Andreu Carulla and Joe Doucet met each other in the summer of 2015 during New York Design Week. They immediately struck up a connection that resulted in a unique creative collaboration.
Over a cold beer or two on a hot day in New York City, they started talking about the design of a new chair. A few sketches and empty glasses later, Marea was born.
Influenced by their immedite surroundings, Marea is the marriage of two iconic costal locations. Merging the sophisticated colonial flair of the Hamptons with the sunny and bohemian atmosphere of the Mediterranean. Marea (meaning “tide” in Spanish) is defined by its suspended seat structure giving it a gentle back-and-forth movement just like the tide of the Ocean.
